Entertaiment is any activity intended to amuse or divert individuals, groups, or societies. It can take many forms, such as watching movies and TV, listening to music or going to concerts, playing sports and games, reading books or poetry, and visiting or creating visual art. The term derives from the Latin inter tenere, meaning “to hold inside.” Its Indo-European root is ten, which also means to stretch or extend, indicating that entertainment can transform and provide enjoyment and insight while also stretching the limits of our imagination.
